The Friends of Marion COA, Inc. (FMCOA) is a private 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. It was founded in 2012 and is operated entirely by volunteers. Dedicated to enriching the lives of Marion’s older adults, FMCOA provides essential financial support, advocacy, and social engagement opportunities that promote well-being and strengthen community connections.

What We Do

Crafting Connections, Building Community

At FMCOA, our initiatives are designed to work together with the Council on Aging (COA) and community partners to weave a vibrant tapestry of support and engagement for Marion's seniors. Here's how we make a difference:

 

  • Community Engagement Extravaganza: By partnering with local organizations, we create intergenerational events that blend fun and purpose, fostering connections that enrich the entire community.
  • Dynamic Program Support: We proudly offer a wide range of activities, including lectures, the Spring Tea Party, the 100th Birthday Party, live performances, indoor and concerts, and art classes designed to inspire creativity, enabling seniors to embrace new opportunities and broaden their horizons.
  • Supporting the Cushing Community Center:  We initiate and financially support infrastructure development of the Cushing Community Center to benefit the Council on Aging.
  • Fundraising with Flair: From lively waterfront galas to community yard sales, holiday festivals, and continuous community outreach, we infuse creativity into our fundraising efforts, ensuring that generating support is as enjoyable as it is impactful.
  • Day Trip Travel Opportunities: FMCOA offers deeply- discounted day trips to event venues like Tanglewood, Spirit of Boston Cruise, Cranberry Bogs Tour, Boston Duck Tour, and Boston Holiday Pops. These trips typically include tickets, lunch, and transportation.

Through these vibrant endeavors, FMCOA transforms the traditional support model into an engaging, community-centered experience, celebrating the rich tapestry of Marion's senior population.
