FMCOA Programs and Events
FMCOA hosts and supports a variety of programs and events designed to engage, enrich, and connect Marion’s older adults with the community. In addition to our annual traditions, we offer seasonal activities, special gatherings, and collaborative programs throughout the year. Check back often for the latest updates!
Seniors on the Go
To enrich the lives of our older adults, FMCOA provides financial support for deeply discounted day trips to a variety of destinations and activities. In 2025, these included a Tanglewood concert, a Boston Holiday Pops performance, Aquaturf Doo Wop in Connecticut, a Duck Tour on the Charles River, seeing the Tall Ships in Boston Harbor, dinner on the Thanksgiving Turkey Train, and a visit to Stockbridge at Christmastime. For 2026, some favorites will return, and new ones will be added. Already on the books are a trip to the Sandwich Glass Museum and a Spirit of Boston Cruise. Stay on top of what's being offered by checking the monthly COA newsletter.
Concerts in the Pavilion
Each year, FMCOA supports live indoor and outdoor concerts at the Benjamin D. Cushing Community Center Pavilion, providing seniors and community members the chance to enjoy music, social gatherings, and the beauty of Marion’s outdoor spaces. These concerts feature talented musicians and offer a relaxed, joyful atmosphere for all ages. Already on the books is a Johnny Cash Tribute Band.
The Zeiterion Theatre in New Bedford
This beloved theatre has just completed a $37 million renovation and reopened in January. We have heard many expressions of interest in FMCOA helping seniors attend shows there. We are working on it.
Keeping the Parties Going
Having had a successful 2025 holiday season, Friends of Marion COA is looking for opportunities to have fun in 2026. FMCOA is covering the cost of singer Sigy Moller for Valentine's Day and singer Eddie Dillon for St. Patrick's Day. Check the COA newsletter for more information.
We Celebrate Our Seniors
In 2025, we hosted a 100th Birthday Party Celebration for two Marion residents. In 2026, we will look for a similar special opportunity to celebrate our senior seniors.
We Welcome Your Ideas
Some of the best events we have had were the result of input from Marion residents. We love imaginative, creative ideas. If you have one, please communicate it using the CONTACT US tab at the top of the page. Let us hear from you.
